About to buy tires

Alright. Went to buy tires today from Discount tire and told the guy that I wanted to price out bfg's 305/65 -18. I have a 04 FX4 with stock rims. I know that they have 7.5 width. I also have a leveling kit. He said they would not fit. He said the "computer said it would only take 285/65-18." Now I have read many posts that say 305's will fit and I would tend to take wandell's and the other owners of F150's advice over "the tire guy" but I just want to make sure that if I spend 1400 dollars they will fit. Should I tell the guy just put them on or should I just go for the 285's . Thanks

$321 a piece is what they charge. I told them they are 268 each at tire rack and he is going to give them up at 260. So out the door its about 1100. Considering the stock replacements are about 800, and those are horrible.

Those tires will fit just fine. Several ppl on this site are running that tire. They didn't have them available when I bought my 285 bfg's, but i'm still happy with my decision. I paid 900 shipped for mine from onlinetires. They are the best tires i've bought yet.

Thanks. Already called the guy told him to get the 305's. He had to order them. Maybe that is why they wont fit? Wanted to sell me 285's in stock. Thanks again!

I have an 05 screw lariat 4x4 with the 2" AS with the 305's on my stockers. The guys at the discount tried to tell me the exact same thing, tell them I know what your computer says, but I know what will work. Tell them to put them on. They tried tell tell me all this crap, and I said look I bought them I know they will work, put them on my truck, and they said ok. They were all surprised to find out that the tires fit fine and their was no rubbing once so ever. They will fit fine, they look big but their is a ton of room under the fenders, they will tell you that they cant offer any warrenty issues on the tires because it goes against their system, but get the free rotation and balance for the life of the tire, and you will be fine. Had mine for almost 5,000 miles no problems
