Frustrated And Confused

I know everyone is tired of people asking what wheels and tires fit my truck!! But honestly, there has not been anyone or any website step it up and really give sound 100% advice as to what wheels and tire combos will fit these new 04-07 bodied trucks. I just read a post from a guy who tried to put Helo maxx 6 wheels 17x8 on his 04 f150 six lug, and the rims rubbed the caliper. However, if you put the same wheel in a 18x9 on your truck, you have to install a level kit on your truck so they fit. I want to know what wheel and tire can I put on my 04, that will be the same size matchup as the stock 255/70/17's on it now. I want a clean wheel, like a HELO, MOTO METAL, PACER, or another 5 or 6 spoke rim.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pictures would help in a million ways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as tire fitment, rim diameter doesn't matter, width and backspacing do. In other words, if you are trying to fit a 33x12.50 tire using a 9 inch wide wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing it will not matter if you are using a 17, 18 or 22 inch wheel. If you are trying to fit a tire the same height and width as a 255/70-17 you should not have any problems being the tire is so short and narrow.

I would say just to be safe get 18'' and up or if you buy new make sure the dealer you buy from knows if the wheels will fit and if not they will take them back. I have a 2'' AS leveling kit with 18x9 Helo Maxx 6 With Nitto TG 325x60x18. No rubbing and fits perfect.

I think metric tire sizes confuse a lot of people. The "old" system of diameter and width was a lot easier to understand. As Wandell said, as long as the tire is the same height and width, the rim diameter doesn't matter to fit - except backspacing and a large enough diameter to clear the calipers.

Also, do you have a 4x4 or 4x2?

Personally, I think this is the best looking combo on a stock 4x4. I'd install a 2 or 2.5 inch Autospring leveling kit first. Then, I'd install a set of 325/60-18 (33x13.00) tires on a set of 18x9 inch wheels. If you want the look of the tires sticking out of the wheelwells, go with a wheel with 5 inches of backspacing. If you like the look of the tires being more flush with the wheelwells, go with a wheel with 5.5 or 6 inches of backspacing.
