Do they fit

I have an 04 fx4 scab and am looking for new tires (the factory 17" generals are garbage) Can I fit 285 70 17 without doing a lift or level? I want to keep it relatively stock looking but want it to not look like a 2wd like it does now. Just looking for a little hight and fill the wheelwells. Any info is appreciated.

Yes, the 285's will fit without a lift or level.
They'll fill out nicely.

Will these same tires also fit an 4x2 XLT with the same rims? I dont know if there is any major difference since I do not have 4x4. Thanks!

On a 4x2 you need a leveling kit to fit 285's, I have had my leveling kit on my truck now for 6 months and love it, just waiting to save up for my new tires.

Here's my 2wd with a 2" leveling spacer, sitting on the stock wheels w/ 285's.

That looks great. I dont want to put in the spacer though, so I may have to go with 275/70/17 instead. Trying to keep it mainly stock.
