-12mm offset wheels on 06 F150?

From my research it looks like most aftermarket wheels for the 06 F150 are +offset, but the ones I want, Moto Metal 951's in black only come in a -12mm offset in the 17x9 version. The site I am looking at lists those as the correct wheel for my truck, but I am confused I have seen positive and negative offset wheels for the same truck. Does anyone know if these wheels will actually work or do I need to decide on a different wheel? Thanks.

If my math is working correctly today, a 12mm negative offset (about .5 inch) on a 7" rim gives you about a 3" backspacing it means the rim will stick further to the outside of the truck. Most of the wheels seem to be 4.5" or better backspacing. On a narrow rim, it really won't look odd. Now a 10" rim with 3" backspacing would look like... a deep dish, yeah, deep dish is what I was going to say...

It is 4.5" backspacing, and it is -12mm offset, not 12mm. It would be a 17x9" wheel.

There is a little quick reference chart for offsets/width/backspacing on that page.

Thanks for that info. Can you help explain how that would relate in real terms? Will a -12mm offset work for my application?

A 9 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing will stick out 2.5 inches farther than your OEM wheels which are 7.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspacing. The more backspacing, the more the wheel tucks in. The less backspacing, the more the wheel sticks out.

So, would that cause functional problems or just look weird? I am thinking I would not want the wheels to stick out that far.

It just depends on the look you like and what size tire/lift you want to run.
