need rim and tire size help

i have a 2001 f150 supercrew 4x4 no lift yet but want to get a aggresive look first with tires and wheels, then i will be doing a 3inch p.a body lift

wondering if i can fit cragar soft 8 16x8 5x135mm
on buckshoot mudders 315/75/16 with no lift

the first worry i have is, will that wide of a tire will look good on a 16x8 rim, because they don't offer 16x10 in that model wheel like other people would use for that wide of a tire.

second would be if the size height will fit. now my buddy fit 315/70/17 on the stock wheels and all he had to do was trim the bottom plastic bumper piece. so i was thinking i might be able sqeeze them in there but not sure.

now there is a second option and i know it will work because cragar soft 8 does come in a 17x9 5x135mm wheel and buckshoot mudders do have a 305/70/17 which using my buddy as an example would work cause it is a very similar match so that is a safe way to go. but i like the look of smaller wheels but will go either way depending on the feed back i get from you guys.

sorry for the novel
thanks for any suggestions thay you guys and gals may have

The first option won't work due to rubbing. Have to check on the second.

ya the rubbing may be an issue cause my buddy f150 with the stock wheels and the 315/70/17 rubbs slightly when he turns on the inside but i figured that the cragar soft 8 may have a better offset then the stock f150 wheels but since i am not sure what the stock offset or in off road wheel terms (backspacing) i can't figure it out. for example if the wheels stick out more than the rubbing issue may not be there cause there is more distance from the tire and wheel than if you were to use stock wheels that sit flush. most after market wheels have more aggressive wheel offset or backspacing. correct me if i am wrong because i come from the import scene were wheels and offset for certain cars are a pain in the butt to get a nice staggered and flush look so i take that type info i have used before and am trying to work it in this situation. from what i understand in offset terms the lower the # to zero the more the wheels sticks outward so i know that so how does backspacing work. i know that back spacing are in inches

thanks again for the info any body else have any suggestion or even used cragar soft 8 on a super crew f150 i have only seen one in florida but not even on the internet

p.s found the backspacing on the cragar's are rear spacing 5 inches

again thanks alot

if you can install the 3in lift first then add the 16x8 rims and 315 the combo looks quite impressive on a truck and is easy on the wallet that be the way id do it

The secret to fitting 315/70-17's (35x12.50) is to use the OEM wheels which are 7.5 inches wide with 4.5 inches of backspacing. If you are gonna go with a wider aftermarket wheel, you need to go with a smaller 33 inch tire.
