what can i do

i would like some help. i wont pretend i know anything about this stuff. im a city boy who just moved out of the city, i have a 2005 f-150 stx. v-8 2wd. I am very tired of getting stuck. what kind of mud tires can i get, or should i get? how big can i go on stock rims? do i need to get a lift? i like the very agressive look. any advice is welcome. pics would be great. is it worth putting mud tires on a 2wd truck? if i get decent tires, can i go play in light mud at all? i am 25 y/o and i like to have fun, lol but i dont want to get in over my head and get my self in a lot of trouble. thats why i am asking first. thanks - Tim

I would start with trading your vehicle in for a 4x4.

I'd add a 2 inch Autospring leveling kit and install some 285/70-17 or 285/65-18 MT's.

Aggressive tires will help tons, balance how much play versus how much on road you plan - aggressive tires can be very loud.

Lift only becomes important if you want to add a much larger tire - a locker out back will help more than anything.

But if you really want to play with the big boys... trade for a 4x4...

i guess what im saying is.. can i put some nice, beefy, agressive, noisy, wide mud tires on my stock rims and ride height? if not, how much of a lift and what do they cost? like i siad earlier, i really love the wide aggressive look, and i dont mind noise at all. forgive my ignorance, but i need tire name, type, size, etc.. i dont know anything at all about these. another thing is, can i get them cheaper ordering over the net? if so, then where. i need 4 tires now, and if im going to replace them, im getting mud tires. no, i wont be playing with the big boys just yet, ill save that for when i can get a 4x4. thanks again - Tim

THe Autospring kit I recommended is around $100. What size wheel's do you have? I'd go with the sizes I recommend (285's which are basically a 33x11.50 tire), or maybe a 33x12.50. As for tires, I'd look at the BFG MT KM, Toyo MT, Wrangler MTR, Pro Comp MT or Xtreme MT or the Mickey Thompson MTZ.

I have a 4x4 but I did a 2'' AutoSpring kit. Its just a block that sits on top of your coil over springs and levels the truck so you can mount larger tires and it makes the truck look better. Its not that bad to install if you have minimal machanical skills. Heres a pic of my truck with the 2'' Auto spring kit installed.

Sweet looking truck. Is the 2" inch leveling kit all you had to use to fit those 325/60/18s on there?

Thanks. Yes I just add the 2'' AS and there is no rubbing what so ever.

PoRT - Wandell got it by the numbers. If you want a really aggressive tire, Interco Bogger or the soon to be released Mickey Thompson Crusher.

Its up to you, if your worried about saving money then 17s are the way to go. I had 17s and stepped up to 18s but I wanted 20s but they were more money then I wanted to spend. There is another screw on here that is 2 wheel drive and has the same tire wheel combo as me but he had to put a 2.5 AS on his truck.
