Polishing my wheels

I have ION ALLOY 171 wheels and i am not exactly sure what they are made of. Their website says polished but I don't know exactly what that means. Would it be safe to polish them with something life turtle wax chrome/metal polish? I did try it a little bit and the cloth turns black when I polish it so does that means it's ok? thanks, mac

the black is the rag picking up the aluminum. they are prob not clearcoated so any alum polish like Mothers, Wenol, etc... should be fine. Just use a soft cloth when polishing and make sure to wash the wheel first.

I agree. THey are polished aluminum alloy. I've had good results with Mother's Powermetal and Blue Majic polishes. Also, a Mother's Powerball makes the job easier.

Also, has anyone used the mother's powerball? It seems like it might make polishing a lot easier.

I have a power ball but haven't used it yet. It should make polishing easier.
By the way, nice truck Bassmaster! Nice color.
