04 FX4 Stock Wheels and Tires

I am getting ready to purchase a set of FX4 stock wheels with the original tires on them. They were pull offs at under 5000 miles. Two questions. I haven't seen them yet and I have pestered the seller enough.

1. What were the stock tires on the 04 FX4 18" wheels

2. I have an 05 F150 with the 17" wheels. Was told by the service manager at my dealer that they should fit fine, but I am a paranoid person and have to triple and quadruple check stuff. So as my fourth check, what do you guys think? Fit or not?

The FX4's come with 275/65-18 tires, which will fit fine on any 04-07 4x4. They may also fit a 4x2, but it will be tight.

any ideas on if they would fit with a different tire? or am i just out of luck?

BTW, do you know if www.tirerack.com is a reliable source? According to their site, it should fit. I sent them an e-mail request for information because I couldn't tell if they were giving me that size in relation to the entire F150 line or just my truck, even though I selected my vehicle.

Tirerack has a good reputation. They have been around forever. As for fitment, do you have a 4x4 or a 4x2?

Wandell, I was under the impression that several guys had made this swap with no problems. But, if that were the case, looks as if one would chime in. I would think the very worst would require a level kit up front.

Yeah, no doubt he can fit that size or a 285/65-18 with a leveling kit on his 4x2. I believe he can fit the 275/65-18's completely stock, but I'm not positive.

Anyone know by chance what the make/model of the stock tire was on the 04 FX4? I am getting ready to pick mine up and I had to come in my wife's car because of gas $$$. This poses a tight squeeze in her car to put 5 of these in.

Thanks....

On the 04 Fx4 the standard size was a 255/70-17 General ameritrac (passanger not light truck) they are junk. The optional size I believe was a 275/ 65 -18 bfg rugged trail.

Another option for you is to get some of the 18" FX2 rims that come with P265 size tires. I was thinking about doing this since I am in the exact same boat as you.
