shimmy/vibration when braking

When applying moderate brakes,ie. going downhill or from speeds above 35-40 mph, there is a significant vibration that is felt throughout the vehicle. It is apparent during braking action only and there is very little vibration felt in the steering wheel.
Does anyone have any ideas? thanks
jt

Your break Rotors are probably starting to get warped.

Yep, your front rotors need turned or ground, depending on how bad they are.

How old is the truck, mileage etc? It sounds like it's time for new pads and rotors on the front more than likely. Buy the better rotors too, thicker and less likely to warp from experiences, cheap is just that. A pad suggestion is Carquest semi-metallic pads, second most expensive and light Ford blue in color. Going that way is what I do to rid myself of one huge headache.

does it pulse in the peddle? that would be rear brakes. does the steering wheel shake that would be front
