Carquest "Blue" Brake Pads

After alot of research and help from this board, I had some Carquest Blue Brake pads installed today in an effort to control the brake dust issue with the OEM brakes. I had it done at a local goodyear.

My question is does that particular pad come in ceramic and semi-metallic. I assumed I was installing semi-metallic pads, but after I got home I started to wonder. Did I get the right pads? Should I have specified semi-metallic? Thanks for the help

Not yet, because I picked my truck up at 5:30 Central Time and it didn't really dawn on me until I got home. Is there any way to tell otherwise?

Ceramics should be a gold color and the semi-metallics should be Ford blue, the light Ford blue. They doubtfully would mistakenly give you the gold ones, they are twice the price for ten times the headaches. I'm almost positive the blue ones are semi-metallics, I just go by color anymore when buying them. If installed right, the pads will be the best thing you've done to the truck.

I have always been a fan of Carquest products vs. the other larger retaliers. I think my next pads are coming from there too. Thanks for the info!

Thanks Blue20004X4. I took a flashlight outside and checked and you can tell that they are "the light ford blue." So, I guess that they only come in semi-metallic, correct?

I just got off the phone with carquest and the "blue" pads do come in both sem-metallic and ceramic. However the ceramic are quite a bit more expensive so I guess I will assume that the ones I got are semi-metallic. Thanks for the help.

Ceramics aren't Blues , unless this is something totally new, there not even Gold anymore actually. There a Copper/Ceramic mix and there black now , seen a set last month. Blues are Blues and they call them there 2 yr pads - there warranteed for 2 years , but last 4..Golds are now below the Blues w/no warrantee and there weeding those out(discontinuing). All Carquest Pads are still made by Raybesto's..

BTW- All Ceramic lifetime pads did use to be Gold , I remember doing a Van with em and they were Gold. - I did Ceramics Lifetimes last winter on an F150 and they were black. So it's a little confusing - I was told there economy pads are Gold as well lol.. Can't they just pick a freakin color and stick with it..

They are carquest blue pads, hence the blue color.

They are just a cheaper pad that works just as well as the $70 ones.

This thread keeps getting more confusing everytime I read it. I got charged $70 for the Carquest Blue Pads I asked for. I realize Goodyear has to make money on parts, but that's another topic. Even when I called Carquest myself, they quoted me $55.

Yup, that's there mark up - sounds typical..If you just replaced pads, that's fairly easy 1/2 hour if it's your first time on the fronts. - did u get the backs done?

No, I only got the fronts done in hope of controlling the brake dust.

That's what I like to hear That brake dust problem was keeping me up at night. I can handle my truck being a little dirty, but I cannot handle darkbrown front wheels!
