Just a different all terrian tread pattern. The Baja MTX always got good reviews and was supposedly better than other all terrian tires in the mud. The new ATZ has a more aggressive tread pattern (wide versions) and is available in more sizes. The only thing I don't like is the ATZ has two different tread patterns. The wide version looks great. The "normal" sizes doesn't look nearly as good and has raised white letters. It doesn't have as aggressive a tread pattern as the wider versions. I have no idea why MT did this. So far, the ATZ (wide version) is getting good reviews.

Are you referring to the standard Pro Comp AT or the new Xtreme AT? The standard Pro Comp AT has a pretty average reputation. I think the Mickey Thompson Baja MTX, ATZ and the new Pro Comp Xtreme AT are pretty comparable in performance and they are all better than the standard Pro Comp AT. Another thing to consider is they are all made by Cooper Tire, so quality is pretty much the same. I'd go with the one you think looks the best and you can get the best price on.

Hey wandell, if you recall if talked to you about how im going with 3.5 inch spindles and 1.5 inch spacer up front and 3 inch block in the back, is the 285/75/16 the biggest tire I can fit without rubbing? Its a 4x2.

You could also fit a 305/70-16 (33x12.50).

Just wanted to make sure we are all on the same boat.

I believe that MT makes a Baja MTX , ATZ, and MTZ.

Both the ATZ and MTZ are the same tire but with a slightly different tread pattern with the MTZ bein more geared towards mud and off-road use while the ATZ is to be geared more toward highway use.

The MTX i believe is to be a more AT tire even less aggressive than the ATZ's.

Please correct me if i'm wrong as i'm planning on either putting on some 265/70 17 MTZ's on the stock wheels or may go ahead and buy some Eagle 187's 16 x 10 w/ 305/70 16 MTZ's.

What do you all think?

MT says the ATZ is good in all conditions on or off road, but not great for deep mud more of a sand snow and slimy mud tread, the Mtz is rated about the same. The Baja Claw is the Off road tire, from what I was told.

First, a 305/70-16 is basically a 33x12.50 tire. A 285/75-16 is basically a 33x11.50 tire. Both are the same height, the 305's are just an inch wider.
As for the Mickey T tires, the Baja MTZ is a mud terrian tire. The Baja MTX and Baja ATZ are both all terrian tires. To farther complicate things, the Baja ATZ is offered in two different tread patterns. The ones pictured above are the "standard size" tread pattern, which has raised white letters and is less aggressive than the wide versions (which only have raised black letters).
