i'm about to install a leveling kit on my 2004 f150 FX4 supercrew but i have a few questions that i'm hoping someone can answer.

i've noticed 2", 2.5" and 3" kits. any suggestions on what i should go with?

what size tires should i go with exactly. i'm leaning towards 33x12.5x16. my only concern is this statement posted on a wheel and tire website...

Although this new 6 lug pattern is very close to the same size as other 6 lug trucks, no other 6 lug wheel will fit. does anyone know if there is any truth to that??

 

Right, 16 inch wheels will not fit over the brakes on your truck. That is why there are no 16 inch wheels in the 6x135mm bolt pattern. You must use a 17 or larger wheel. I'd suggest using a 2 or 2.5 inch Autospring leveling kit. The Autospring kits are a one piece design that bolts directly on top of your coilover assembly. This design is just much easier to install than the two piece designs like the Daystar. As for a tire/wheel package, the best looking combo in my opinion on a leveled 4x4 is a 325/60-18 (33x13.00) tire on an 18x9 inch wheel (with 5.5 or 6 inches of backspacing).

Check out my gallary its a 2'' autospring with 325-60-18. The wheels are 18x9 helo maxx 6.

ok i ordered the autospring leveling kit, thanks for your help. now i need to decide on what tires and wheels. my truck came with factory 18" rims. is keeping those rims and putting 33's on them an option at all?

if not i want to go with all black rims and nothing fancy. suggestions??

as you can see i'm trying to get the most lift and biggest tires with out spending too much money.

You can mount 33's on your factory 18's with no problems. I mounted 35x12.5 on my factory 18's...I prefer the factory wheels.

 

Right. As a general rule with a leveling kit on a 4x4 you can fit 35x12.50's using the OEM wheels or 33's using aftermarket wheels. If you want a black wheel, look at the Pro Comp's. THey have several.

 

if i mount 35's on my stock 18" wheels (with 2.5" autospring leveling) will there be any rubbing or should it be a perfect fit. i'm trying to avoid having to trim anything but i'm set on wanting to use my original wheels. anybody have any pictures of 35's mounted on stock wheels? ...it would be nice to see.

 

Most members report no rubbing.

 

I looked at those. The black Pro Comps can only be had with 4.53" backspacing which is to much. Will have rubbing with that.

 

I just added 33x12.50x18 Toyo MT to my stock 18"s with a 2" AS lift and i have no rubbing.

 

Try the BFG AT KO 305/65/18 it is a 34x12" tire fit perfectly no rubbing

 

i say go with the nitto terra grapplers.. IMO best riding all terrain tire, for the price.. they say you only get 30k miles wiht em, but if you take care of em, and rotate and balance them regularly, ive heard of ppl gettin 50k easy..
