Question Front and rear brake ?s

So, I have a 97 F150 2WD...when i first start driving it and apply the brakes my front left brake locks up long enough to bark the tires then stops...WHAT IS CAUSING THIS?!?!

Another ?, I have the rear hubs instead of discs...can I take the calipers, brackets, rotors, and whatnot off a read disc equipped F150? If so, which models if that matters.

when was the last time brake fluid was changed??what kind of condition are the hoses in? might want to flush and refill with fresh fluid, as fluids gets old it can cause problems like yours, also make sure your caliper pins are greased well. as far as back brakes you probably have drums. you want to change them to a disc setup??

Yeah, I'm going to put 20" wheels on eventually and I don't like the look of drums with rims, i'd rather have discs.

Here is a link to the only Rear Brake Conversion for a '97 F150 that I've been able to find.

http://www.tsmmfg.com/2530M.htm

Everything included with parking brakes works out to about $650. I haven't checked but it might be cheaper to get the parts from a '99 with rear disk breaks.

Your better off getting a good configuration up front and keeping your drums. Switching could be a little nightmare in the making. Brembo rotors, new twin piston calipers and Carquest Blue's can be had at half the price. Incredible stopping power after doing this to mine.

Definitely REPLACE your fluid , #1 cause with wasting your calipers.

i agree. some new fluid, good set of pads. and some new hardware for the drums and you will have plenty of stopping power.
