Emergency / Parking Brake Questions/Issues

Hi again all!

I again bring my ignorance to you folks for some direction. I have a 93 F150 that I purchased for winter. I am a n00b so bare with me, but I have a question about the E-Brake. First, the E-Brake doesn't engage at all. It goes right to the floor like it's doing totally nothing. If I pull the release lever, it will allow me to pull the pedal back up. However, the idiot light for it stays ON, which in turn disables the anti-lock brakes.

A few questions from what I've read here.
- Is there a way to find the switch or whatever to let it know the E-Brake isn't engaged? Temporarily so the ABS will work.
- Are there some basic troubleshooting steps I can take to find out what is actually wrong with the E-Brake itself?

Thanks in advance, great forum!

0) Welcome!

1) Click my signature link & look in the Brakes & Hubs album. The e-brake stuff is near the bottom of the page. Read the captions.

2) Call your nearest Ford/L/M dealer with your VIN & see if your truck needs the e-brake pedal recall (or ANY other FSAs).

3) Buy a Haynes manual & read it.
