How big a tire 97 Expie on a 16" rim?

1st, sorry for such a stupid question, I searched and didn't find a thread...

Anyway, 97 Expie, aftermarket 16" rim, about how big can I go?

Thanks,

TT

You can go as big a tire as you can get to fit on a 16. I run a 305/50-20 on a stock 4wd navigator. I know you can fit a 285, but is it 4wd or 2wd, and does it have air ride?

A girl at my school has 33's(285) on an expy and i'm not sure you could go any bigger. The 305's i'm running arent much bigger than a 33 but it would be a tight fit but it would probably work with no problems on a 4x4.

I could go up to 325, but for some reason (even though it doesn't even look close) the rears actually scrub the inner body on occasion.

4x4, no air ride

so it sounds like a 305 might be safe? I should add that it would be a mud/snow offroad type of tire, no a bogger or anything, like ATKO or something.
