Rim Space...
hey guys,
I am planning on buying some rims this weekend. What I wanted to get out of this post was the main thing I need to make sure I look for when I buy them...
Meaning, what tire/rim width is the maximum I can go without any rubbing on my 2004 Supercrew Lariat... and also, if someone can quickly summarize what they would highly recommend I would greatly appreciate it. More than answer will be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have a 4x4 or 4x2? Are you looking for a street setup or are you going for an off road look?

thanks for responding wandell, i was actually looking to send you a message since you know a great amount about wheel/rim set ups.
i was looking at going with a street setup and leaving my truck the way it is without a lift or without lowering it because im not looking at doing any of those right now.
thanks for the response.

I'd suggest a 22x9.5 inch wheel (6.7 inch backspacing) with 305/40-22 or 305/45-22's.

4x4
Ok, Wandall
same question but for a 4x4 with off-road look? I don't plan on sinking $1700 in a lift kit anytime soon, or ever for that matter. Considering the leveling kit. Which one of those is best in your opinion?
I have the 05' XL 4x4 supercab with 235\75\17.
I think I may have seen you say 285/75/17 somewhere else. I'm considering 18" rims though. Good idea?

I've seen several 04-06 4x4's running 325/60-18's on 18x9 (5 or 5 1/2 inches of backspacing) wheels with 2.5 inch leveling kits and they look great. As for leveling kits, they all are about the same but the Autospring kit is the easiest to install.

Is 285/75/17 correct if I stay with 17's?
Are the affordable leveling kits I see on E-bay good quality and safe?

285/70-17's are basically a 33x11.50. They will work fine. Also, Autospring sells a lot of their kits on EBay.

What would happen if the backspacing on a wheel was 6"?

How wide is the wheel? It should tuck in a little more.
