Question Wider wheels and tires..285/60/18????

Nice to see everyone again. I have not been on here in a while. I am about to put on new tires and possibly wheels on my truck and I was curious what you all thought of this idea or maybe some of you are running this setup. I have a 1999 2WD F150 with a 3.5" Fabtech spindle lift up front and 2" blocks in the back. I currently just have the stock 16x7 wheels with 265/75/16 tires. I saw a new F150 FX4 the other day running 325/60/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers on stock 18" FX4 wheels. I did not think a tire that wide would fit on a 18x7.5 wheel....WILL IT without any problems??????

So heres the question....I would like to run a similar setup that is a lot wider than the 265/75s that I have now but I am not necessarily looking for too much more height bc I do not want any rubbing. I was thinking of 285ish/60/18?!?!? Is anyone running a similar set up or do any of you guys have suggestions for me. I really like the wide/lower profile look of the 325/60/18 setup!!! Here is a link to my truck if you need to take a look:

Added Info

I thought I might add for all you that my fabtech spindle lift has push my front wheels/tires out about 1"-2" versus the stock spindle/wheel placement. So I might be able to accomodate a wider tire without rub maybe. Anyways, you all have at it and let me know what you think!!! Merry Christmas everyone.

The 265/75-16's you are running now are basically a 32x10.50-16. If you go with a 285/60-18, that is basically a 32x11.50-18 tire, so it's basically the same height as your tires, but an inch wider. The 325/60-18's you saw are basically a 33x13.00-18 tire. You could probably fit those if you find an 8 inch wide wheel with the right backspacing (4 1/2 inches or more).

Here are what the 285 60's look like on my truck.

The 325's were not available and may still not be for quite some time.

Arrow Thanks

I appreciate the replies fellas. Wandell...I kind of understand the idea of backspacing but when you said that if I had the right backspacing (4-4.5" or more) I would probably be able to clear the 325/60/18s. Would that amount of backspacing push my tires out or would it bring them in towards the center of the truck to accomodate the wider tire? Just trying to understand how it works. Thanks!

Your stock 16x7 wheels have 4 1/2 inches of backspacing. That will give you an idea of what other wheels will look like. For instance, if you find an 18x8 inch wheel with 4 1/2 inches of backspacing, it will only stick out and inch farther than your OEM wheels. A 18x9 inch wheel with 4 1/2 inches of backspacing would stick out 2 inches farther than your OEM wheels.
