What's the biggest tire for my 02 SCrew 4x4??

Hi,

I have an 02 SCrew 4x4 and need to get new tires for it. I want to stick with the stock (King Ranch) wheels which are 17x7.5. I want to get the biggest tires I can without having to make any mods (fender trim, etc) and no rubbing. I have cranked the torsion bars up too. What are the biggest tires I can go with on this setup?

Thanks much...Mike

I would recommend the BFG A\T KO's LT285/70/17. They are about equal to that of a 33" tire. I fit them on my 02 Sport Scab 4x2 with the stock 17" rims and stock suspension. They would fit much better for you since you have a 4x4. Check out my gallery to see the pics. Good Luck.

You can fit 35's by cranking the torsion bars but it will rub a tiny bit but nothing that cant be trimed. 35's or 34's look really good. If you can find some 34's or something equal to that they will fit with no problem and look great.

I just read where you said you didnt want to trim any so I would try to find a 305/70/17. I run them in the buckshot mudder on my 04 Screw and they fit good and my friends mom runs them on her 03 Screw and they fit fine and really fill up the wheel wells good. Heres a pic of mine

If you don't want to trim, go with some 285/70-17's (33x11.50) or 33x12.50-17's.

Thanks

Thanks all for the good info.

Wandell, tire calc says there is about a 1" difference (circumfrence) in the 285s vs my stock tires (265/70R17) so I'm a bit concerned about not filling up the wheel well (4x4 torsion bar cranked) since there is a lot of space available now. You mentioned as an option 33x12.5R17. Is that the same as a 305/70R17? Those seem like they would fill nicely (tire calc says that's a 33.8" tire). Do you see any probs putting those on the stock rims (7.5)?

I like the look (and rep) of the BFG ATKOs but they don't make a 305/70R17 so I would either have to go with their 28570R17 or something else like Wrangler MT/R (mucho $$) or Mickey Thompson FCII.

Thanks (again)...Mike

TX - Take a look in my gallery and at my rims and tires. The wheels are 17 x 8.5 and the tires are the BFG 285/70/17. I have not done anything to the suspension. I think this is a nice look. Fills it out just about right for me. I have no issues with rubbing at all. My truck is an '03 KR.

Temples, I like the L wheels. They look sharp. I was thinking about that myself, but had already bought the 17" BFG's last year so I sure wasn't going to scrap those and have to buy new 18" tires.

OK, I cranked the torsion bar...

OK, I cranked the torsion bar all the way up and the front end is still about 1" lower than the back. It just doesn't give it enough of an "un-stock" look even if I go get some 33s I think. What are my options for getting a llittle bit more height and bigger tires? I saw some posts about a 2.5" autospring level kit that would allow me to fit 35s on there. Can I do that on an 02?

Thanks...Mike
