brake problems

i just had a complete brake service about a month ago. i got it done at a firestone service place that is also a reputable offroad shop in the area. they turned rotors, new pads, fluid flush, adjusted drums in back, etc. ive always had a soft brake pedal, but ive just gotten used to it. but it feels like it doesnt want to grip until the very bottom of the pedal, and then when it does its ridiculous how much it grabs, it feels like its grinding into the rotor (if anyone else knows what that feels like) but i know its not. but even after the service, im still getting the soft/grabby pedal feel, squeeling brakes, slight vibrating under braking, etc. i was thinking about changing out my lines for some braided ones to see if that would help, but im not sure. any thoughts on what i should do?

braded lines are a good thing..
brake hoses can and will "blow up like a balloon" at times resulting in a mushey pedal..

...zap!

did you "bed" in the new pads? if not they may be glazed over.

im not sure, how do you go about "bedding" the pads? and i think they were glazed over and i was having the same problem a long time ago, now that i think about it.

this link can explain it better than i can.
You can remove the glazing on the pad by scuffing the pads and rotor with a Scotch Britte prep disk.
