0-60mph acceleration after changing 3.73 for 4.88 ?
I own a Mark LT 4X4 and i have Toyo Proxes 285/40/24, the acceleration times are horrible even when using stock wheels and tires. Right know the 0-60mph times are around 10 seconds, if i change the stock 3.73 gears for 4.88 gears will i be able to improve the 0-60mph times at least 1 second ? And what is gonna happen to the top speed ?
Thanks a lot guys.

is this truck going to be used for drag racing? i would never consider the 4.88 gear for anything except that unless running very tall tires, something at least 36". try to go somewhere in the 3.90 to 4.0 gear if possible. as for top end you will not have much but you will sure get it there quick. then the one second off of 0-60 time-- no way!! .5 to .75 probably at most. good luck. p.s. i have 4.10 gear in a heavily modded 93 mustang and it is a fun job jerking the shifter before the revs get over 6800. fun fun fun.

i would not put 4.88 unless you are running 35" or taller tires, yes it would emprove your 0-60 times but it would make it hard to drive highway your rpms would be around 800 higher in every gear compared to what they are now so it would kill your top speed and you MPG, your truck would top out each gear very fast, 4.10 would be more doeable IMO, good luck

4.10 is a good change from 3.55 but if u are already unhappy with 3.73's u might consider going to 4.56 gears. there lower than 4.10 but not as dramatic as 4.88 would be. look up fourm fourpiontsix. he is getting 4.56 installed next week on his 05 f-150. and i know he will be more than happy to tell u about the performance change!

With the 3.73 gear and the 24's, your running approx 2000 RPM at 75MPH
If you switch to 4.56.. It'll run 2450 RPM at 75
|| || || || 4.88 It'll run 2600 RPM at 75
4.10 2200 RPM at 75
285/40/24 is approx a 33" tire. (32.98")
I would say... go with 4.56.... 4.88 might be a little steep for your liking.
Acceleration... You WILL notice a LARGE difference in acceleration.. Maybe not a second, but It'll be noticable.
Get the gear swap.. *Most*people that swap gears love em'
