Rear Disc kit for an 8.8 rear.

I was wondering if anyone could refer me to a Disc brake kit for the 8.8 Rear end. The truck is a 94 F150, if that matters.

And, I want to up the rotor size on the front, and back if its possible. But I cannot find any kits that do so? I would like to run a 12-13in rotor on the front, with an equal size on the back if it is possible.

Tunderbirds/cougaurs, crownvic/town cars had R. disk brakes in 94, I don't know wat size ring/pinion they have, but check it out, axle shafts might swap out...

It's not as easy as just swapping axles. If you have ABS it will no longer function as intended. You will also need to change to a 4 wheel disc master and if you change rotor size to something other than what the master was built for you will need a propotioning valve to balance the system out too...

BAER makes brake kits to do what you want. The most common change to the rear is using '94-'98 Explorer disc sets. They bolt up to the axle flange and parts are readily available.

Remember that no mater what kind of rear brakes, it only does 10-20% of the braking. Would this be money well spent? An upgrade in front might be better money spent.

Good luck......

You can make a straight swap with a thunderbird turbo coupe axle. This is common in old 4 lug mustangs converting to 5 lug

I know the rear brakes do not do a whole lot, but I no longer like messing around with the drum style brakes. I've had too many problems with them as of late. I want to go with an upgraded front as well, and I was thinking of using the new(?) master cylinders which use an electronic device to build vacuum rather than using the engines.

You're gonna end up getting into some issues you don't want. I have a friend with an 8.8 from a 93 GT mustang that has been converted to 5 lug and is rear disc. I don't think its an exact match, but I believe with a little modification (like spring perches and shock mounts) you could make it work. ANd it has 3.73 FMS gears with low miles

2 Left Ranger axles are easier to come by, they are the same size. At the shop we use these. The front brakes from a crown vic and the rear discs and calipers from the lincoln mark 7.

I had heard that before. But, coming accross a used mark 7, well, is a little difficult
