I've been checking into new wheels and tires since I got this truck. It came with 235/70/17's, and I looked at a few web sites and they say that if I plus one it. I can do 265/60/18's or even 285/60/18's. I am affraid that I am not going to have enough space in the wheel well for this bigger tire. I went ahead and bought new wheels and tires online. The rims are the OEM Ford 18 inch chrome rims you would see on a lariat w/ chrome package, and the tires are 265/60/18 BFG Radial Longtrails.

Since so many websites said this would fit, I was not worried. But I stopped by a tire store and he told me that I could have several problems.

1) The rims would be the wrong size for my truck (however they claim online to fit all 2wd and 4wd 05 or 06 F150's)

2) The tires would rub on the inside sidewall, because they are to wide.

3) I might have to cut a piece of my bumper that wraps around into the front wheel cavity in order to avoid rubbing.

Has anybody made this switch from the crappy plastic 17 inch rims on the 2wd to 18 inch rims? Or can somebody let me know what they think?

 

I can't remember anyone running your combo, but several are running larger tires. That combo will fit easily with room to spare.
