265/70/17 PSI question.

I've spent an hour reading past posts on this, but still can't find the answer I'm looking for. I'm running the stock Goodyears on my truck, and I know the tire sidewall shows max 35 psi, but I'm running 40 psi all around for mileage. I do not tow anything. Is this bad? Anyone else run this? I was running 38, but now I bought the nifty valve caps that let me know if I have 40 in them or not.

Can't wait for new BFGs!!!!

the waring on the side of the tire is there for a reason. DONT exceed it. if it was for a couple miles u could get by but evenutally ur tires are going to wear funny and wear out faster. this cost money plus u could shread that tire hitting something like a curb. my tires have max psi of 44 even towing i dont exceed 40 psi. watch ur tires for wear if they wear on the outside add air if in the center lose air only a couple psi could make the difference between 40,000 miles and 15,000 miles on those tires.

If you want to run higher tire pressure, you should buy "LT" rated tires rather than "P" rated tires.

If they are the stock tires, then you might as well go by the PSI ratings on the door jamb.

Psi

I would not exceed the recommended PSI on the sidewall of the tire. I run about 40 psi but I have LT tires. Like said above dont go above what the tires recommend on the sidewall. You are asking for a blow out. The tires are not made for trucks in the first place and are the cheaper option. Get LT tires and you can put more pressure in them.

The penalty for overinflation (which is what 40psi is on the stock tires) is center tire wear and no warranty if the tire fails because you excedded the sidewall warning.
