Question 305/70/17 on '03 Supercrew FX4

First off I would like to say that I'm a long time lurker, but first time poster and you guys have some of the best looking trucks I've seen in a long time. The question I have is would 305/70/17 tires fit on a stock '03 Supercrew FX4? The tires will put on the stock rims, any ideas. Thanks.

I believe you would have to turn the torsion bars up some, and maybe notch out the front valence a little. Not quite sure.

They fit fine on my truck, but then again I have the front and back lifted 2".

Yes, they will fit. You will probably have to crank up the torsion bars or trim the front bumper's lower valance slightly. People that have mounted 315/70-17's on stock 4x4's using the OEM wheels usually have a slight rubbing on the frame at full steering lock, but I'm not sure about the 305's since they are an inch shorter.

I ran 3 sets of Maxxis MT-754 Buckshots on my 2001 Screw offroad pkg. with FX4 17" wheels, worked great no rubbing and no torsion bar adj. These 305 are 8 ply tires held up great keep em balanced and rotated you can get 40-45K Easy. Fastest I had em up to was about 120 mph, so their pretty safe(yeah it was chipped) Stay away form the 265 nad maybe the 285 b/c they are 6 ply nad wear out alot faster plus they dont look as good.(IMO)

Those are the same tires I'm thinking about getting, I was thinking about some MTRs but they are alittle too pricey.

If you have a relationship with a farm Co-op you may be able to get them at wholesale with no tax just depends if they are willing to do that for you, otherwise retail my last set on my 2005 I think i spent around $700 which included tires, tax(9%), mounting and balancing.

I like em alot, i run interstate a good bit as well as hunt so im prolly 70% interstate and 30% off, there real aggressive but seem to hold up well.

I dont have any pics of my old truck but they made it sit up nice and looked good, i had alot of people tell me they were the right tire(lookswise) for the truck

$700 isn't bad at all, I've called a couple of shops around my house and they want at least $830 for everything.

Get ya a ranchhand grill guard and throw those tires on and you will be set, 1 thing about those tires, i would definitely get a Xcal tuner or Hypertech and put in the power program, it also lets you adj. top speed and speedo, i left the speedo alone, i tried to recalibrate and it just didnt seem to work quite right anyway you are about 7% off if you dont recalibrate; if your stock size was 265/70/17 and say if you are going 70mph you are really going 70 x1.07=74.90 mph you get the idea. Anyway i was running hypertech and had the speedo calibration issue on my 2001, now i have an Xcal2 on my 2005 and Mike T from Troyer custom tuned my tire set up and it works great, but you can prolly pull a Hypertech off ebay for under $200, I also had replaced stock shocks with Rancho RSX all the way around and replaced rotors with Brembo's and Hawk HPS pads, Had a K&N CAI, and Magnaflow SISO, with all this it ran well I also has 3.73 rear end which you should have as well. But if you just try to throw 305s on there with nothing else , you may be disapointed especially if you get in the mud.
