Leveling Kit Hazards?

Leveling Kit Hazards?
I have a new 05 Supercrew Lariat 4x4 that I would like to upgrade the wheels and tires on. In one of the other threads, I noticed a comment about a negative impact from a 2 in. front leveling kit. I was wondering what those negative impacts might be - irregular tire wear, etc.
Thanks in advance.

Leveling kits are nice and an inexpensive way to make your truck look good until you save up for a REAL LIFT and don't do alot of offroading. I have an 2.5" autospring. It seems that the autospring was the most popular due to the ease of installation but many had cosmetic issues where the upper control arm would hit the coil and chip the plastic/paint off the spring as well as you would get a clunk noise on full extension when the ball joint bolt would hit the spring if offroading, also you can turn the wheel all the way but the turn stop engages sooner and rubbing metal on metal for about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. But for 100 bucks for the kit, and 40(apps) for an alignment with a self install, It's a nice "band-aid for a broken bone" as another member of this forum stated. Good luck.

The coil rubbing is only a cosmetic issue, not a safety issue and does not occur on all F-150's. However, the kit by Autospring has been recently redesigned to eliminate this rubbing. Their new offset version allows for more suspension articulation and gives you complete upper control arm to coil spring clearance. They sell it on eBay for $106 with free shipping.
