Gears?

Hey all.. just a quick ask for info... I recently acquired a 97 F 150 4.2 with a 6" lift and 37 x 12.5 x 17 tires. I belive that the gears are stock. It did not come with a hitch of any sort and plan on having one installed. I dont plan on pulling anything bigger than a 5000lbs and wonder if I need to worry about the gears being the wrong type?

THanks

You really need to find out what your gear ratio is. In my opinion I would have at the minimum 4.10s running 37's with a v-6. Does your truck seem sluggish (working extra hard to move the truck)?

I would recommend a minimum of 4.88's with 37's and a V6. I would go lower since you plan on towing.

Yes it does seem sluggish to me, but I thought it was just me. What is the best way to find out what gears are in it, it has passed through a few hands and no one can remember themselves.

thanks for the help!
