wider rims without lift?
I was looking at some 17X9 rims for my truck. it has a 4.5 inch backspaceing. I was told these rims were for lifted trucks only. my truck has a 2.5 inch lift in the front (leveling kit). do they say these rims are for lifted trucks only becous they will stick out past the fender lip. if so how lifted dose one have to be to run these wider rims. I could see the fenders hiting if one was to hit a big enough bump. do any guys run wheels wider than the fendar without much lift with out any problems.

I am running 20"x10" wheels with 4.5" backspacing with 33"x13.5"x20" tires. I only have a 2.5" levelling kit on the front. I have a SLIGHT rub on the left side when backing up with the wheel turned all the way to the left. I plan on removing a little more of the fender flare inside the fender to resolve that.

the question is not for normal driveing it is if you go offroading or hit a big bump or pothole would it make your wheel rize up enough to hit the fender. I seen a pic of one guy offroading and his truck was on a incline and leaning to one side his tire had risen up into his fender a little. I know if he had rims that were wider than his fenders it would have hit and possibly dammaged the fender. that is the question. I am leaning an going with a rim that wont stick out so much. I am still looking.
