What About Buckshot Tires?

Guy wants to sell me 4 Buckshot tires (I think they're mudders), equivalent to about 285-70-17, for $600. Is this a good tire? Is it a good price? They are "almost new." Thanks for any input, good or bad.

I know everyone around here where i live has or had them. I asked alot of people about them and they all said that they are a good tire. Prolly the next set of tires i get will be buckshot mudders.

P.S. I think that 600 is a little high. IMO

I agree. $600 sounds high for a used tire. I think they are a decent tire from what I have read.

I've got some 305/70/17 and paid 800 mounted so 600 for 285's is a little high. They should be about 140-150 a peice new so I would pay 130 a tire depending on the mileage on them.

I see alot of trucks with those tires around here. I think they are on the "cheaper" range but they are still a good tire.

$600 for 4 of them used is a little much IMO. I havent actually looked to see what they go for new though...

I've only had mine for about a month so i really dont know. I've know people who have gotten 35K out of them(about 2 years of use). It depends on how you drive really. If i remember correctly the 285's go for about 140 a peice where I got mine.

i know that my dad had a set of remington mud brutes on his work truck (95 f150 2wd) he had them on the back. he had 82k on them when he took them off. then he put them on his trailer which now i would say they have about 96k. so i am undecided on the brutes or buckshots.

sorry if i highjacked the thread.

I ran the buckshot mudders on my truck and recieved about 40,000 out of them and I only paid 650 new mounted and balanced, of course that was two years ago. I recently purchased new Maxxis Bighorns 305/70R17, which is made by the same people as the Buckshot, and paid only about 700 mounted and balanced.... so 600 for a used tire is way too much. Check the maxxis website and call around. Good luck.

Buckshots are really good off-road tires. 'Specially if you deal with lots of mud and are towing in it. A tad loud on pavement, but you have to deal with that with such an aggressive tread. I've run through 7 sets over the years. Averaged between 40k and 45k on all sets.

I'd offer him $100 a piece for that size, used. And wouldn't go over $450 if it boiled down to it.

Good luck,

Joey
