17in Rims and 33in tires?

Can I get 17in rims and 33 in tires under my 05 SCrew 4X4? Do I need to do anything special to make them fit and what is a leveling kit? Do I need one? Thanks

You can fit 33's easily.

A leveling kit brings the front end up about 2-2.5 inches to make it level with the rear end. This allows you to fit up to a 35" tire under the truck.

There have been some problems with aftermarket 17 inch wheels on the 05's. Aparantly, early in the model year Ford changed the brakes and now some aftermarket 17's won't fit over the brakes. Before you go to the trouble of mounting and balancing tires on 17's, be sure to test fit one to make sure it will fit over the front and rear brakes. You shouldn't need a leveling kit to fit 33's unless you go with a really wide wheel or one without enough backspacing. However, it would look better in my opinion with a leveling kit.

I put 17X9 wheels and 33X12.50 tires on this week on my 05 FX4. Wheels fit with no problem but like Wandell says, some aftermarket 17's may not fit. Be sure to test fit one on, I did.
