Replacement?

Well I know I am months away from dealing with my tire replacement but I am curious if it is time to replace my tires.

My tires are properly inflated to 35-38lbs and they love to squeel even at very slow speeds. The tread thickness is just less then that of match head. I am at 46.6k and she is just under 2yrs old.

Any thoughts?

Your tires have wear indicator bars. These are little bars placed between the tread of the tires. When the tread gets down to these bars, it's time to replace them.

sometimes squealing tires are caused by aligning problems.

Do these little bars run across the tire or around the tire, inside the tread.

Is it safe having less then a match heads worth of thickness for tread?

They run across the tire. I usually replace tires right before they get to these bars.

Depending on where you live, you may want to get tires sooner. (ie. snowbelt); I know that, around here, people wait until the snow flies, then they replace tires. So if you have a specific tire in mind(or a common sized tire), it can be a bugger to get at short notice.
