New Rims...Need help w/tire sizes!

Im looking to buy some 18" wheels and get rid of my 16.5" wheels. The wheels im looking at are 18x8 with a 5" backspace.

What size tires can i put on these, i still want to keep my 35's. I just dont know anything about the sizes or cant understand the numbers they list on websites. Right now i have 35x12.5x16.5's on my truck.

I had a friend tell me 35-12.50r18, but as i looked them up i didnt see any bfg's except the mud terrains and i dont want those(any im not gonna spend 275 a tire either). I would like to get BFG's AT's

I'd suggest going with an 18x9 or 18x10 inch wheel and a 325/65-18 tire which is basically a 35x13.50-18. The Toyo Open Country AT and Nitto Terra Grappler are both available in this size. They are excellent tires and as good as the BFG AT KO's. As you saw, BFG doesn't make a 35x12.50-18. If you have to have a 35 inch BFG AT KO, you could go with the 315/70-17 (35x12.50-17) or the 35x12.50-20.

wandell,
the options i have on the 2 diff. sizes of the wheels are 16x8 or 18x8
why do you say that im better off getting a 10" wide wheel(just curious)? I can always pass up on these wheels but the price seemed right so i thought id get them.

I just like the look of the wider wheels. Just a personal preference.

I'm not sure if Nitto and Toyo recommend an 8 inch wheel for their 325/65-18's or not. CHeck out their websites to find out. If you go with an 8 inch wide wheel, you would probably be better off with a 35x12.50-18.

I'm a Toyo dealer. Toyo recommends 9-10" for the Lt325/65R18 for the open country a/t's. That size would also be more like a 35X13.00R18(close enough), not sure if that would be too wide for his truck? Mickey Thompson actually has a new tire out in that size that looks awesome. The M/T Baja ATZ, but they're extremely expesive. But looks cool! Price wise the Nitto are going to run you a bit more than the Toyo's. Toyos are really good tires, there's just one piece of advise I give people w/ toyo OPEC's, KEEP THEM ROTATED! They'll burn out REALLY quick if not.
Good luck!

Hy SilverNCSU could you give me your prices on the 33x12.50R18 and the 35x12.50R18. When I get new tires soon hopefully I'm intrested in buying one of these and just want an idea of what they cost. I'm probably gonna go shopping around for some in the next week or so and I hope I can find a dealer around here somewhere.

Hey,I have a couple of buddies that swear by the Nitto Terra Grapplers. Discount Tire Direct offers them in a 325-65R18.I posted earlier on the 20'' wheels/tires I bought for my truck. Sean over there is offerring a break on the price if you deal with him and tell him you were referred to him from this site.My buddies say the Terra Grapplers wear awesome and are a really good on/off road tire as well. Discount Tire Direct is also currently offerring free shipping til the 15th of this month.
If you want to give Sean a call he is at:1-800-589-6789 Ext.423

Good luck.

Sorry for the delay Professor. If you looking those sizes in a Toyo they don't really have anything in those exact sizes, but close. In the Open Country AT's: LT325/60R18 (33X13.0R18) about $337. LT325/65R18 (35X13.0R18) about $301. In the MT's: 35X12.50R18 about $389.

A little pricey, and the reason I say about is b/c between all of our stores (Colony Tire) we price a little differenty as far as playing w/ the prices to make the deal. I'm not sure what other Toyo dealers there are in other parts of the U.S. Here in Eastern, NC we pretty much hold the market in Toyo's.

Good Luck
