BFG TA KO's - 265 or 285 on stock rims?

2004 F-150 XLT 4X4
I have read here in the past that the 285 will fit, but went by a tire place a while back and he said the 285 would make my truck ride like a "Lumber Wagon" because it has extra layers of sidewall, and will stiffen the ride.

Anyone know anything about this?? First time I have heard about this.

Also was pricing Toyo Open country AT, and they come in P and LT. Was told I only needed the P (Passenger) and not the LT(light Truck) any input on this ??

Thanks in advance

Size (within reason) makes no difference in ride. THe LT is a heavier duty tire with thicker, stronger sidewall. This is what most people go with on a 4x4.

The tire guy is talking about the "load rating" of the tire. Load ratings come in A, B, C, D, E. a "D" load rated tire has more ply's and a stiffer sidewall than a "A, B, C" rated tire. Most LT tires have a "D" or "E" rating, but they do make them in "C" and sometimes lower. I was looking at the TOYO AT and it comes in a few different load ranges, just ask for a "C" load range and you'll be fine. I don't think you'll notice a "lumber wagon" ride even with the "D" laod range. They are guarenteed anyway for 30 days, at least on the OPEN COUNTRY AT, try a set and if they give you a "lumber wagon" ride take them back. anyway, good luck, hope this helps.
