Tire Sizes

I tried searching but to no avail. I have a 2003 FX4 screw. I went offroading last night, hit a stump and blew out my tires. Well i was planning on getting new tires anyways but hadnt yet, but now its time. I wanted BFG Mud 33X1250X17 but relized they dont make them. I was dissapointed. I was wondering what size in metric would be the closest. I know they have a 285x70 or 75 but if i figure that out right, its only like a 10.5 or 11 in wide tire and i want something wider.

I am pretty sure they have AT's in the size i want and if i have to i will settle with those but my question is, are there any other mud tires that are comparable to BFG's in 33X1250X17 that you guys would reccomend. Thank you very much,

Brian

A 285/70-17 is basically a 33x11.50-17. Pro Comp makes their mud terrian in 33x12.50-17 and it is basically a copy of the BFG MT's.

Also, Good Year makes their MTR in 305/70R17's, which would be close to what you want.

Thanks for the help. Wandell, how do you like you AT's? I live in Florida so there is alot of sugar sand and then there are also little ponds full of mud. Do they clean pretty well. I had some on my 2wd Ranger but they were alot smaller and i didnt take that thing anywhere near what i take my 150. Thanks again

I'm extemely happy with my BFG's. They work great in sand and better in mud than most all terrian tires. However no all terrian tire is great in the mud.

Hey Wandell, i was looking on BFGoodrich Tires.com to see what all they had and the sizes and i came across 315/70/17, which come out to be 34.4 in tall and 12.4 in wide. Do you think these will fit on a 2003 F-150 Screw FX4. I know i will probaly have to torque the torsion bars and trim but how much will i have to trim and will it be worth it in the long run? Thanks again for the help

They will fit, but they are an extremely tight fit. The secret to fitting them seems to be using the stock 17x7.5 inch wheels. You also have to consider the performance aspect also. Unless you have a 5.4 engine and 3.73 gears, you will really notice a loss in off the line acceleration. Personaly, I would stick to a 33 inch tire, unless you plan on lifting the truck in the future.

Well good thing i have the 5.4 and 3.73 gears with a LS. I plan on lifting the truck soon but have to wait for funds. I was wondering, will it scrub at partial or full flex? I was just wondering because i want the biggest tire possible right now. Thank you again. You are amazing help. Keep up the good work

I have the same truck and cannot wait to replace my 33's with stock size. I can't imagine how poorly it would perform with 35's.

Most people say that the 315's rub the frame at full steering lock when mounted on the narrow stock wheels. Also, as APT stated, you will notice a loss of performance. You may be completely happy if you do not tow or haul heavy loads.
