I think you can do the brake yourself if you have a little mechanical ability. Brake are over priced at most repair shops. Get a price at the local autoparts store for the pads, shoes and rotors if needed. You can get the rotors and drums turned if needed. See how much you will save. Parts for old vehicles are alot cheeper than new ones. If you do it youself buy a manual and it will tell you how to do it.

That price is ridiculous.
I would do it myself or find a buddy to do it with you.
From my LMC Truck Mag.
76 2wd F-100
Front Hub & Rotor Assembly (x2) - $100
Front Break Pads (x2) - $30
Front Caliper Set (x2) - $100
Rear Drum (x2) - $100
Rear Break Shoe set (x2) - $40
Rear Wheel Cylinder (x2) - $50
Rear Drum Hardware Kit (x2) - $20
Rear Self Adjuster Kit (x2) - $30
Total = $470
You can even throw in a new master cylinder for $55
*EDIT*
I rounded those numbers up to the nearest even dollar amount. I'm lazy.
