Best Traction!

I need a tire that has the BEST possible traction. I tow alot, and I need something that wont slip on boat ramps when the tires are wet. My stock generals are POS's, and price isnt an issue. Should I go with BFG's Long Trail, BFG A/T's, Mitch Cross Terrain... etc. I'm open to any suggestions. The tire size must be 255/70/16. Thanks.

BFG AT's are probably overkill if you do not go off road any more than the boat ramp, but they would do pretty well for you.

Really just about any of the tires you listed would do alot better than those Generals.

More options to look at:
Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO
BFG AT KO
Nitto Terra Grappler
Firestone Destination AT
Yokohoma Geolander AT
Just about any of the Michelin tires should have good wet traction.

Any of those would do good for you IMO. So just see what is available in your area and find some that arent extremely overpriced.

Check out Tirerack's Survey and pick one of the top 5 and you'll be happy.

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo is a great tire. They are a little expensive but have superior wet and dry traction.....

why do you specifically want the 255/70R16?
the 265/75R16 will fit on your pickup and almost all the aggressive tires are offered in this size, certainly more often than the 255/70R16, as that smaller size is harder to find in the offroad type tires, just a thought, but hey, you do what you want....
BTW, any of the above mentioned tires will do fine, especially since you already have a LS

Well with a v6 smaller tires are a little better,(won't lose any power, and he can break the tires loose a little easier on dry pavement if he wants too) plus if those are the stock tire size he won't have to worry about the speedo being off.
I say any of the top 5 on tirerack like APT said, but I hear good things about the geolanders. Pick which ones you like the best out of the 5 though. Have fun with your boat and truck.

Since you're towing a lot, I'd say sell the V-6 and get a V-8 with a limited slip, put Bridgestone Dueller Revo's on it and go.

I have Goodyear Wrangler ATS's on my truck and they are great on wet pavement, mud, snow, and dry pavement. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your imput. I'm going to go in tomorrow and get some tires, brands depend on what they have in stock. The reason I dont want to go larger is because I dont want to loose any power. I'm only going to be keeping this truck for hopefully less than another year before I'm ditching it for a new 6.0 250 or a new 5.4 150. Thanks for all the imput.

Well.... I ended up with the Pirelli Scorpion AT's. They seem like an excellent tire so far, I already towed with them, and have no complaints. They have an agressive look, but still a good ride to them and great traction. I would definately recommed them based upon my first impression, I will see how they last and wear. I got a good deal on them too, got to love discount tires. Pic link is listed below.

Good pick, might not get the greatest amount of life out of them, but most "offroad" tires are like that, have fun.

Those 250's with the 6.0l's look really nice, though for a boat the 5.4 would do you well too, just make sure you get new tires when you purchase the vehicle(cost you very little with the ones on it as trades.) or you will probably have the same problems.
