Unhappy 2005 FX4 18" wheel/tire blues

I'm looking for an aggressive tire for my new 05FX4 and I'm not having much luck with teh factory wheel size. I'd like to go with something around 33x11.50x18 Anyone got any ideas?

Yes, I've seen the 285/65/18 from BFG, and they're in the running, but is there anything else out there? Wouldn't mind something closer to 33.2 instead of the 32.8 with the BFG. Any ideas?

Hey, what about the 35x12.5x18 BFG MudTerrain? Not much chance of that fitting on the factory wheels, huh? Any problems with clearance with this tire size?

Is your truck stock?

I think you need a leveling kit (at least) to fit 35s with no problems.

I dont recall how wide the stock wheels are so I cant say if those tires will fit on your rims (I would venture to guess they will fit, but thats just a guess so find out for sure).

Yes, my truck is only a month old and bone stock ... for now anyway. Will 35s fit w/o suspension mods? Any 33s for stock 18" wheels?

A leveling kit should be used at a minimum. Prudence would also suggest a gear change with a 35" upgrade. You will notice a significant difference in "off the line power". I have the '04 and live a 7000ft and sluggish is the best description of the acceleration I experience with the stock set-up.

Yeah, you can run 35x12.50's on the stock wheels if you install one of the 2.5 inch leveling kits.

I'm in the same boat with the tire options for the stock 18's that are only 7.5" wide. I've already installed the leveling kit, and the stock 275/65-18's look way too small now. I don't want to trim any fenders or crank any bars. I've been told by a couple local dealers that 33's are the largest that can fit without any rub with only a leveling kit. I keep reading on here that 35's will fit without any rub with only a leveling kit. Looks like I will be going with the Nitto Terra Grappler 305/55-20's with aftermarket wheels unless I hear differently. If I can go bigger without any rub, please let me know.

It depends on what wheel you can use. Apparantly the only way to fit 35's with only a leveling kit is to use the stock wheels. If you go with a wider aftermarket wheel they won't fit.

How do you explain all the people here and at FTW that have fit 35's? Keep in mind the 04-05 F-150's are completely different than your 97.

Question

OK, so there's not many options for an 18 inch wheel. I'd really like to slap some BFG mud tires on it. Anyone know where I can find some 6 lug 17x8 wheels for my FX4? Anyone want to buy my brand new 18" wheels?

Just about all the major wheel manufacturers make 17 inch wheels in Ford's new 6x135mm bolt pattern.
