Tires on a real Tight budget

I'm in collage and on a real tight budget. I'm thinking of buying some futura Dakota AT's from PEPBoys. Does anyone have experiance good or bad with these tires. Also is their any other options for me in a 265/70/17 for around $82 a tire or a total cost of around $400 for all 4

General has a nice AT tire they sell at sears. I put these on my truck and they are very aggressive looking and have had them on for a year with little wear.

Not a noisey tire either.

kuhmo makes a good tire in 265 for less than 100, you might also want to look at cooper discover atr which are 103 online, nitto grabber at are 100 and yokohama ats are 103 online.

Discount Tire has stores in your area, I believe.

Here is the listing off their website for your size.

I run the Pathfinder Sport SUV's now and have run them before on other trucks. They are good tires, great value.

Discount tire is great.

Talking Pathfinder Sport SUV's and life time alignment

Thanks for all the info guys. John you run the Pathfinder Sport SUV's; how do perform off-road. The looked up all the tires mentioned above, and would love to get a few of them. The thing is most sites charge to much for me to keep them in my price range. One other thing I found while looking at my local tire shops. At the Firestone retail store in Albuquerque NM they sell a lifetime 4 wheel alignment for $124. That’s a good deal considering that each alignment cost about $40 else-where. Not sure if it national or if the Bridgestone stores do this as well but it worth a look.

I haven't had them off road, so I'm no help there.

Discount tire mounts, balances, does lifetime balance, pro rated road hazard and rotations for the price quoted. This also includes free flat repair. For about $12 per tire you can buy the free replacement warranty. If the tire fails for any reason before 2/32 they will replace it free.

They have great service, so i will always buy my new tires from them.

Take a look at the new Firestone Destination AT. Great tire for the money. I did not buy them from a Firestone dealer and saved $200.00 LT265/75/16 $500.00 out the door. I have 2500 miles on mine and they look new. The rain, mud and snow have NOT been a problem.

Originally, I wasn't going to comment on this post until you got into retread tires. If you "get on your truck" regularly and drive at high speeds it is real easy to throw a tread. While going to Juarez Mexico, years ago, I threw three re-treads on the route. Consider this, what is your life worth. The quality of the tire is important and the cost just has to be paid. Look around, shop the net, and then take your best price to Discount Tire (on any tire, they can order it) they will beat any price you have in writing. And if your interested in Revo's, get a price from Discount Tire, then take the sheet to a Firestone Dealer and they will beat it by 10%. I saved $250. on a set by doing this.

Good Luck in your quest - Semper Fi

Leeper,
You must not be using high quality retreads. I have used these on most of my trucks at one time or another. My s15 used to see about 160 miles a day on the highway at 75 or better. The technology has come a long way. Computer controlled tolerances and pressures assure quality manufacturing. Now a days they like to call them remanufactured tires.

Pros -a great tire at a great price.
Cons- some sizes are not available, sidewalls are not as smooth as a new tire. From 5 feet away you cannot tell these are remans. Even up close it is hards to tell. You won't be sorry. Check around. The warranty is even great.

Pstmn1: You are probably right, the quality of the retreads may have been questionable. They were done by a little ma/pa operation in Golden, CO which has now gone the way of the 'watchiwachic minnow' (non-existent). Sorry to step on your parade! Semper Fi
