Another Tire and Wheel ?

Will it be fine to put a 285/75-R16 on a 17"rim? or do I have to have a tire like a 33x12.5R17?
Thanks

R16 means its a 16" rim and you have to put a 16" tire on it.
yea, you will have to buy a 17" tire to fit your truck

Ive got the 17x7.5" wheels. That means I have to find a wheel that has a width of 7.5" right? so what would be the biggest tire that would fit on my stock wheel? width and everything?

No, you need to find a tire that is approved for use on a 7.5 inch wheel. The stock 265/70-17's are approximately 10.5 inches wide, but they are approved for your wheel. You can vary slightly, but it is usually best to stay within the tire manufacturers recommendations. For instance, you can run 33x12.50-17's on your wheels, but most tire manufacturers recomment and 8 to 10 inch wide wheel for that tire.

Why not? According to Toyo's website, they approve 7.5 inch to 9.5 inch wide wheels for their 285/70-17 Open Country AT. You can always find out by looking on the tire manufacturers website for their approved wheel sizes.

When it comes to tires for 16 inch wheels, most tire companies use the p metric sizing system. BFG makes a 305/70-16 tire which is the same as a 33x12.50-16. It's just two different sizing systems.
