Warped rotors on 02 F150

I have a 02 F 150 with 30,000 miles, I have had the rotors turned once, and now they are warped again. Nothing is sticking but I do tow a boat in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter so alot of heat is generated. I want to replace the rotors and pads with something more durable. I am thinking ceramic pads but what rotors OEM? I dont want to go to extreme and do alot modifacations, basically bolt on parts.

Thanks Kirt

On my '02, I'd replaced all four stock rotors with Brembo replacements from Tire Rack by the time I hit 32,000 miles. The stock rotors were just plain junk. The Brembo's were awesome. (I traded the truck in with 58,000 miles on it and they were still perfect.) I also did the ceramic pad thing and they were awesome too.

OEM Rotors are good, but with a set of semi-metallic pads, they will fail miserably. 2stroked, when you put on the Brembo's you also mentioned putting on ceramic pads, as we all know when you change more than one variable you don't know what fixed (or caused) the changed performance.

With that said, I would put on a new set of rotors (Brembo or OE) and a set of ceramic pads, Akebono has some of the best in the market, tirerack.com is a great place for the Brembo rotors and Akebono pads.

Good Luck,

Ed773,

You're right in that I changed two variables at once. I'd NEVER done brakes on any of my trucks before 55,000 miles and my '02 just ate the stock rotors. Warped, heat checked, micro cracked, etc. (The pads were not too bad though.) I'm not a believer in turning rotors because you now have even less material to dissapate heat, so, we went with new stuff. The total effect was astounding. Better braking and they were still going strong over 35,000 miles later when sold it.
