I've seen a couple of members here running 305/45-22's on stock 4x2 04-05 F-150's. Maybe someone can post a pic.

The fronts going to be close with the 45 series tire. I run 305/40/22 and it is close but no run lock to lock on uneven ground. But I plan to drop it slightly and it may rub a little.

I was thinking of going with that setup too. "305/45/22". I just took my 2wd 2004 F150 XLT to the Ford dealership to get the butyl pads replaced, and i was talking to the service dude and he told me i shouldnt go higher than 20s, and even those he wouldnt recommend because the trucks are designed for 17s. Is this guy just saying this shpeel because of the warranty or what? Ive heard tons of people putting 22s on their 2wd 2004 on this board!

Well the place I ordered my wheels and tires from has to get "approval" for the sizes they install. They will not exceed a certain limit which could comprimise the braking. They say they get approval over the phone. So even if I demanded 24 inch wheels with a 50 series tire, they wouldnt order them for me since it wouldnt get approved.
So by their calculations, the 305/40/22 was the largest I could run.
