Spare tire lock

I've had my 02 Screw for a week now and I found out something about the spare tire lock. I don't have one!!

I was re-reading through the owner's manual, and it made a reference to a spare tire lock. I says to self..."Self, you can be in deep ca-ca if the truck has one because you did not receive a key with the truck!" So this morning I went out and took the handle from under the hood and stuck it in the hole and the spare lowered. Whew!
Also, before posting this I did a forum search for spare tire lock and found out a lot of info.
Now I have a question. Is there a lock that will fit into the access hole in the bumper so no one can stick a handle in there and lower the spare? I noticed one thread that showed a lock for a 2004-2005, but is there one that will fit a 2002?

Yes there is one that fits in the access hole...my roommate has one on his.

But I dont know where you get it from. Mine doesn't have one.

If you really want a way to prevent theft of the spare, another option is to put a padlock around the cable and through one of the lug nut holes (it'd have to be long).

Hey, that's an idea! Like a bicycle padlock. I'll look into that. Thanks!

My spare tire is so badly out of round and out of balance that you cannot maintain 60 mph very long with it mounted on the vehicle. But it holds air and will get me through if I ever have a blowout. If someone really wants to steal it that badly, they can have at it.

My '94 Ranger still has the original spare tire under it, never been used.

Reloader-
You can buy it from Ford Parts. One piece slides down the access hole and snaps in and the puzzle key goes inside your glove box and has a clip to attach it to your spare crank. I added one to my 2000 F-150 and the Ls come with them.

I looked up Ford Parts (locks, spare tire). I couldn't find it. Do you have a part #?

Sorry, I no longer have the 2000 truck or the part number. I don't know where you looked, but the parts department hooked me right up on spare and wheel locks and a locking gas cap. I do remember that it was outsourced from Ford to Mcgard, but I checked and it's not on their site at this time.

Thank's anyway Max.

I looked up fordparts dot com and the closest I got was lug nut locks and tail gate locks. I'll go to my dealer tomorrow and ask
