Tires and Lift?

I am a first time user of this board. It is awesome. I just happened to find it by accident. Ok, on to business now. I have a 05 F150 FX4 Crew Cab. It has stock 18" rims (unfortunately). I say this because I am told I can not put larger tires on it unless I lift it first. I am not looking for HUGE tires. Just upgrade from the stock tires to about a 33 inch tire. I am told that with these rims I will have no clearance unless I lift it first. Anybody know how far I need to lift it? Will a 2 1/2" lift be enough for clearance. Thanks for the help

I think you can fit 33"s easily, but you might look at a leveling kit to get that front end up level with the back.

Check out the '04-05 forum, lots of info in there.

Right, if you add one of the 2.5 inch leveling kits, you can fit 35x12.50-18's with the stock 18x7.5 inch wheels.
