Still haven't decided? 4 for price of 3 Pro Comps?

My original idea was to put 285/70/17 BFG A/T's on my truck. I was told that these would fit with no problem, I haven't given up this idea, but with a special I've seen it has made me think about other options...

As I continue to shop I found many places now offering buy 3 get 1 free on all Pro Comp Tires.

My question is would the 305/65/17 XTreme fit? I'm sure I'd have to adjust my torsion bars, but I'm ok with that.

Secondly, how about the Radial A/T's from Pro Comp 305/70/17?

Which ones would be better in yall's opinion? All comments welcome. Thanks!

Yes, they will both fit. I would go with the new Xtreme AT's. I just never cared for the appearance of the Pro Comp AT's.

Thank you O'master of all tire questions! lol

I agree with you , I'm not a big fan of the look of the Pro Comp A/t's either. But the XTreme A/T' s look really good.

Are you thinking I'll have to do any trimming, or just crank up the torsion bars?

Thanks for your help!

It depends on what wheel you use. If you go with a 10 inch wide wheel, you will have to trim. If you go with a 9 inch wide wheel or narrower you may or may not. Also, Mickey Thompson has a good looking new all terrian tire. I'm not sure if they are available yet.

For the sizes you listed, most tire manufacturers recommend an 8 -10 inch wide wheel. You can use your stock 17x7.5 inch wheels. This may cause the center portion of the tires tread to wear slightly faster than normal. Similar to the wear you would get from running too much air pressure. That being said, I've seen several members here running similar combo's for 10's of thousands of miles without any problems.

I have seen that comment in some of your previous responses and figured that I could probably expect that since my wheel is only 7.5

I called 4wheelparts.com near my house today and here is what they said:

1) That these tires would not fit on my truck without a lift. I told them that I have heard they would and know people that are running them (per wandells comments from some folks at FTW).

I also know that 1BAD was running 315's on a stock setup just like mine. I told them that I wanted them to put them on anyway and to give me a price.

The new XTreme Pro Comp's are 232.99ea and they have a 4 for 3 right now for a total of $698. They quoted me a final price of $950 which includes warranty, balance, etc!

I thought this was quite high and figured I could order them online from someone else for $698 delivered and have someone else mount and balance for me. I was thinking maybe around $50-60 for the mount and balance and a place here in Los Angeles.

The only problem is I don't know what kind of warranty I would get. Do yall think it is worth it to pursue the second option I mentioned?

Thought? Comments?

Personally, I have never purchased the road hazzard warranty on tires. I don't believe I would get one from a mail order company. My reasoning is this. If I have a problem with a tire, I wouldn't want to pay someone to remove it from the wheel and then pay to have it shipped back to a mail order company. Then you have to wait for them to decide what to do and ship you another tire back which you would have to pay someone to mount and balance. That would wind up being a lot of time. I'm not saying that road hazzard warranties are a bad thing, I'm just saying I would not get one unless it was from a local tire dealer. If you have a 4Wheel Part near you, I think that would be your best bet. The only decision is whether or not you want to purchase the road hazzard warranty.

I have found it a lot cheaper to order online and have someone locally mount/balance (~$55 for 4). I also save on shipping b/c all places I have looked offer free shipping, plus no sales tax.

Check out 4wheelonline.com or 4wheelparts.com

P.S. I went to 4 wheel parts today and they said the 305/65/70 would not fit on my factory wheels and suspension.

If you talk to wandell, he says that it will fit despite the wheel being a 1/2" narrower than recommended. I worry more about it actually fitting under my stock FX4 suspension.

im betting it will, your only talking an inch, rubbing usually comes from tire height, if you went with 35's you would have issues but i think you would be ok, Id call around to local tire shops and ask.

Well I tried to order the new 305/65/17 Pro Comp Xtreme A/T's and did not have any luck. I called the manufacturer and they said they won't be out until late October!

I guess it's on to the BFG A/T's 285/70/17
