Brake Job Of A Lifetime

So my brother has an 91 escort. NO Laughing. He was having trouble with his brakes. He had no pressure all the way to the floor. So i told him to stop buy my work because its heated and we can lift it with the forlift etc etc. So he gets there and we try to determine whats wrong. First problem we cant get teh caliper off. Rusted on. A couple minutes with the blowtorch took that off. Then im lookin at his brakes. Bare Metal IM looking at this one and it looks totally different then anyone ive ever scene. Its extremely thin. So i check the other side. Holy S#it some how the driver side rotor split in 2 and the other half was just gone. Which caused the caliper to extend past its limit so that blew out. And the rotor and the pads onthe other side were almost as bad. I was blown away buy this rotor. Has anyone else had this occurance before. Needless to say the car recieved 80 bucks worth of new rotors pads, i new caliper and a new pin and ring set. Took 3 hours and 2 trips to the parts store. The guy at the parts store was extremely cool. He stayed past hours because i forgot some key parts and he rang it up for me. No tax. And we kept bleedin and bleedin and bleedin teh brakes until finally there was some pressure. The whole system probally needs done but eh itworks good for now. Anyways thats my story tell me what ya think or if anyone else has a story id love to hear it.

Talking

wow never heard of that happening before, what a job.

i have one story similiar in that it pertains to my little brother as well. and he has an escort also, a 96 gt. he calls me up so i go to his house 2 blocks away i have a heated garage but his tires are flat so he cant make it over. so i take my air compressor over to get the tires inflated to get the car to my house to look at the brakes. i get there the rear tires are flat he has just enough gas in it to start it and his brakes are'nt working. ok here we go the rear driver tire inflates ok the rear pass. does not it has sat so long the beads were out of shape and would not seat. so i jack the car up he has no jack so i take my shop jack over in the mean time he leaves gets some green slime he thinks the tire has a hole in it and a case of old milwaukees best light. ok by this time im thinking what in the hell. nonetheless we drink a few and let the tire retain some of its shape somewhat it still wont hold air so he blows this whole tube of green slime **** in it. i say to him dont you have to be able to drive the car with this in the tire. oh yea he says but he does'nt have enough gas. so i jack the car back up and start spinning the tire . now this car has 5 spoke rims and reaer disc brakes as im spinning and by this time some what inebriated my finger slips inside the wheel and catches the caliper and breaks the tip of my right index finger. wow did that hurt. it also cut it to the bone.......so we waited another week to finish the brakes and i hate that car now......and my finger has a permanent crook in it. i never got it set. just splinted it.

............ta daa.......the end..

Buy your Bro a dictionary and have him look up "preventative maintenance." Doesn't sound llike a very responsible guy. Lucky he didn't kill a family of 5.
