What size tires would have came on my 98 F150?

I'm buying a 98 Ford F150 2 wheel drive sb. The truck has 43,000 miles on it and has Wilderness HT tires, 235/70/16. Are these the original tires? It looks like they match the spare. I'm wondering because I went to tires.com and it said the truck should have 255/70/16 tires. The truck needs new tires and thats why I'm wondering about what size to get. What size should I get? How long do tires usually last on a F150 that sees nothing but highway use and which brand would be best?
Thanks for any help
Joe

Depending upon upgrades on tires etc, that could be the original size. I would drop the spare and look at the size and brand. If the same, it is probably the original tires.
I am not sure Tirerack is real accurate at times as to OE

The same truck can come with any of 3-4 different wheel/ tire sizes depending on the options and trim level picked. Either of the two sizes is fine, really.

Look on the driver's side door jamb...there is a sticker with the vehicle info that should have the original tire size on them.

THE F150 2WD COMES STANDARD WITH 235-70-16 TIRES THE 4X4 HAS 255 OR 265

BUT HONESTLY THAT DOESNT MATTER BECAUSE 235 ARE HORRABLE. If youve got the basic amount of wheel clearance but 265 on your stock rims and it will look great and wider tread pattern for possible mud n snow situations
