I have an 04 Screw FX4 with factory 18" wheels. I have noticed on the pics that some with the same setup have opted to downsize their 18" to 17" when going with a new aftermarket wheel and tire setup. I am about to take the plunge and wanted to get some opinions on why. I like the look but is it for appearance, better selection, etc. Thanks for the feedback.

Currently there are a few more tire options for 17's. However, more and more 18's are being introduced everyday.

 

Its also alot cheaper to replace the rubber with 17s instead of 18s. I personally like the looks of more rubber(higher sidewall) but thats personal preference.

 

I also wanted to do that for those reasons, plus prefer the look of less bling and mo' rubber. That being said, I've discovered not all 17" rims will work. Make sure you check out the rims you want in detail. I finally settled on a rim, only to find I must get the 18" as the ones I want will not clear the calipers in the 17" size.
