Snow Tire Confusion

Snow Tire Confusion
I have a 98 4x4 ext cab with no lift. I need some aggressive super traction snow tires.
I was all set to get Revos, but they dont make a 305/70/16 which is what Im wearing now. So I was going to get the BFG AT KO in the same size. But I just read some odd threads about guys raving about TOYO's new MT's in the snow?
I was under the impression that MT tires sucked in the snow, am I wrong?
Id rather get MT's cause I like the looks better, but I need really good traction in snow and ice so I was set with getting BFG AT's.
Can anyone clear up my confusion? AT or MT in snow and ice?

i dont think the mts would do well on ice although all tires slide on ice the ats are probably the better choice for all around traction and they're quieter on the road to i have the revos and drove thru wisconsin this weekend almost blizzard conditions and i couldn't be happier with the revos they handled great my friend also drove his truck with revos and he couldnt be happier either

i had mt's on my 91 gmc... in my opinion they were a LITTLE better then my bfgoodrich at's i have on my 00 f-150. The f-150 still does a great job but the MT's clean them selves WAYYYY better. if there was an inch or 2 of snow on the road it worked better then the at's. When it comes down to it ice ratings mean nothing... if you got abs you have a chance, if you can straighten out ur better but when it comes down to it... u hit ice at 55 mph i dont care if u have bike tires on your truck its going wherever it wants u to go. so if you dont mind the extra road noise in the summer and a heavier rolling mass go with the MT's their the best choice and best looking.. just my 2 cents.

i agree with racerf150man... i have them and they are great. i like the road noise. it lets everybody know who coming.haha we had 24inch of snow here in indiana about 3 weeks ago, and i was the school bus that took everybody home from work and to work on my shift. defintly impressed me. oh well thats my opion. and you know what they say about them...

OK so im in shock now, so MT are good in snow????
Im looking to get a 4-6 inch suspension lift with 35's or bigger im guessing.
What MT's are best? Toyo? Cooper SST (the new ones)? Nitto? BFG?
How much louder will my truck get? Mines already pretty loud with my dual exhaust but I dont want it to get ridiculous.
Any thoughts?

i agree partially... i believe at's are better if inflated to specs better then MTs. BUT i drove mine with them deflated a little. not to the dangerous point, but they were lower then my summer pressure by a couple pounds. and this created a greater patch to contact the road. i live in northern mn and we have constand snow/ice packed roads. i never had a problem. im not saying that if u own the at u have to drive 4 wheel where as if u had a mt u could be in 2wd. the comparison is so close that it wouldnt really matter til u get to deeper snow. and i prefer the look of most mt over the at's and were suited for my gmc better then at were since i never went over 200 mile trips with it. i did drive it alot and the wear on them were great it was mainly my stop and go truck as well as mudder and winter driver (winter i split about 50/50 with my f-150).
