Anyone Heard of Maxxis Bravo HT Tires?

Looking at tires this weekend and I am having a hard time deciding. There are sooooooooooooo mannnnnnyyyyy tire brands and styles on the market.

I have eliminated the Radial Long Trails by BF Goodrich and the Contitrac SUV by Continental. I have had both tires and they do not exhibit good wet traction in my book. I mainly drive highway and suburban roads. The Maxxis Bravo HT caught my eye but have never heard of it. Also, it is made in CHINA. I guess I shouldn't be biased because most tires are made overseas now anyway.

Give me your best tire choice for highway and suburbs. Cost not to exceed $140 ea tire.

Thanks,

jeff

What size are you looking to buy? That will affect the price greatly.

I've heard some good things about the Yokohama Geolander AT's and the Nitto Terra Grapplers.

If you really arent going to go off road, Ive heard good things about Michelen LTX series tires, they supposedly get GREAT tread life.

The Yokohoma Geolander H/T G051 looks like a good tire for you.

The 255/70/16 will be about an inch taller than your (stock?) 235s, so you will probably want to see about getting your speedo recalibrated.

Don't know who made those tires and many tires are made by a few factorys for many different brands. But there is a way to find out who makes them by looking at the DOT Number. Most tire dealers have a book to find out who made the tire by looking up this number.
This begins with the letters "DOT" and indicates that the tire meets all federal standards. The next two numbers or letters are the plant code where it was manufactured, and the last four numbers represent the week and year the tire was built. For example, the numbers 3197 means the 31st week of 1997. The other numbers are marketing codes used at the manufacturer's discretion. This information is used to contact consumers if a tire defect requires a recall.
