Alright Mandrake, you've been a little harsh in a couple of topics already and Since you're new Maybe you need a little reminder on common courtesy. If you don't like what some one has done to their truck, Fine. But no need to be Snobby just because your 97 has 4x4 and my 98 doesn't. They're are a lot of people with Lited 4x2's. For a number of reasons.

#1-Cost of Truck ( 4x4's are a few Thousand More )

#2-Cost of Lifting ( I have about $900.00 in lift so far and I'm taller than a 4x4 with 33's and a 4" suspension lift)

#3-Cost of insurance ( 4x4's are usually higher)

#4-A gear swap is more on a 4x4. ( You have to swap two Diffs.)

#5-I know I'd rarely use 4x4, so why pay for something you wouldn't use.

#6-Ever watch those Baja Races???? Mostly 4x2's. And they seem to get along pretty good.

I know when I got my truck I had no idea the spending bug was gonna attack me like it has. The only thing I ever changed about any car I had before was the radio. So I was trying to get a Good , Inexpensive, Reliable source of transportation. Had I known then what I know now- Would I have gotten 4x4? Maybe. But my truck Looks Bad ***. Not all of us are made of money as you appear to be.

CCLA, If I had not read your bio, I would have bet good money that your truck is a 4X4. It looks sharp(of course I am partial to bright red) Also, amen to spending money on the pickup add-ons-- I just hope my wife never gets the calculator out and totals up the "stuff" I added to mine. Have fun!!!

CCLA Sorry for any offence. Was purely a tongue and cheek comment, and directed mainly towards one of my Buds. As far as made of money.....I've been living like a hermit for 8 years to save up enough money to buy my truck outright. Now I put 2-300 a month away just for mods....like having a lease. Sorry if it came off the wrong way, but working 60hrs a week and laying off the partying is paying off on this truck. Okay maybe not all the partying!
P.S. Your truck looks Rad....I'm getting there.......sloooooowly

RANT MODE OFF Mandrake, I think I misspoke about you being harsh in other threads and for that I apologize. I do however tend to get a Spur under my Saddle when ever someone "Disses" my truck. And I took your comment as a "DIS" and If I misunderstood then again I apologize. Its just that a couple people have been extremely negative about lifted 2wd's and I thought you were Being One of "Those" people.

There....Now we've shaken hands and can depart civialy.

There is black and white, sweet and sour, low and high, hard and soft, noise and silence........and,... 4x2's and 4x4's.

It's a matter of choice.

Nothing wrong about it.

I for one have owned 1 Nissan 4x4 86 1/2, 79 Ford Bronco, 87 Chev 4x4, 94 GMC Z71...never had to use the 4x4 mode to get unstuck....NEVER...all were lifted...This 4x2 Rides the best out of all of them and is the tallest (3+ more inches to go, bodylift and tires) CCLA is right on all the others stuff. Its just something more to break down and worry about. I dont really do the mud thing anymore, I grew out of it...The cleaning after sucks, and the broken parts suck even more. Right ED?
So to answer your question, why?? BECAUSE WE CAN !!!!!!! DAVENSA

Cool

Why I don't have a 4X4:
I have never driven a 4X4 and never gotten stuck driving 365 days a year.
If you don't use it, you lose it.
Big waste of money for something I won't use, don't know how to use, and probably won't be there on the one day when I wanted to.
Now, I am starting to wish I lifted mine like I originally wanted to because we have quite a few chances to go trail riding latley ... but I think a dirt bike will better fit into the Truck and my budget.
