Cool Tire/Wheel choices

This is truly a great message board - question: Ordering a new 2000 SuperCab 4x4 Lariat, but wanting to put some big new rubber on with some classy wheels, being a previous GM Man, I don't know much about how big you can go on these trucks without too much tire rubbing underneath...I want 33 or 35 inch tires, but how wide? If I lift it, I know I can go bigger, but I don't know much about lifting F150's (body vs. suspension)- bottom line, I found a deal on a tire/wheel combo from National Tire/Wheel:
BF Goodrich AT - 35x12.5R16.5
Eagle Alloy rim 589 - 9.75x16.5
Package costs about $1200
Good deal? Do I have to lift the truck? How much?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi Captain Windsor
If you are going to put larger tires on your new truck I would sugest ordering the optional gears for your truck. I think they are a 373 gear ratio, also ge the limited slip if they offer it with that gear ratio.

Hey Capt,

From what I've heard, 31"s are the largest you can fit before you raise the truck. If you search the board you should be able to find lots o' info. If you do go to raise it, I would suggest the suspension lift. A body lift is cheaper and easier but not as well suited for actual off-road use. If it's just for looks the body lift would probably work for you, although if you lift it much that way you'll be riding pretty high off your frame. Good luck and welcome back from the dark side.

285's will fit without rubbing. I've also seen 33x11.5's on a stock 4x4 with no rubs. 33x12.5's Will fit but they rub a little.

For 35's you'll need a 3" body lift.
I see those 589's you're looking at. Well a couple of months ago I bought similar wheels. While I was looking for wheels American Eagle 589's 16.5x9.75 would not fit on F150's because of the bolt pattern. However I got American Racing Baja's In a 16.5x9.75 with 35 BFG AT's for $1244.00 Delivered to my door from 4wheelparts wholesalers. They look identical.

The Body Lift will run you $130.00 UNinstalled.

Thank ya'll for the info - I like the looks of your truck ccla - it looks like I will want to go with the 35's and at least 3" body lift, maybe 4...just for looks and tire clearance mainly, I think those wheels look good - even though my last set of American Racing wheels were a little disappointing - they were clearcoated and it started to either partly flake off or fog up and I can't get the rest of it off - but anyway, I think I might try them...How quiet are the BFG AllTerrains vs. the MudTerrains?
Thanks

The At's are Very Quiet in my opinion. I only really hear them in turns. The wooooo sound.

I cant really compare to the MT's though, I've never run them.
